Bought some straw at just under 4.00 a bale.Hay is selling for 3.50 a bale here.High slaughtering fees and 3.50 hay will stop most people from raising a steer or 2.Layer pellets are going for 10.50 per 50 lb.I usally keep 25 hens and sell eggs but have only 6 hens now.I repair fence chargers and notice local business has been down since high slaughter fees started.It costs so much to buy and raise a piglet now that many people just buy their pork on sale.Same thing has happened with raising meat poultry.I cant afford to feed my cattle 5.00 hay.When I cant cut my own hay the cattle will be gone.Watch food prices take off this summer.Mexicans have seen corn meal prices double.
