I've got a 185 Lo-Boy(1975, if I recall correctly), 5'deck, 3pt. and loader. The loader I is mounted, but I haven't used it. The tractor is in good shape, not beat up, starts/runs well, all tires 90%(also loaded). The only problem is that it needs a new clutch kit for the pto. A guy wants to trade me his '55 300 utility. It starts/runs well. The tach seems to work(bounces up & down a lot) but none of the other gauges work. The tin is all there but kind of rough. It has a home-made hand trip loader. Tires are poor but usable. Home-built adapter in the hitch(2pt to 3pt). The torque amplifier doesn't seem to work. There is resistance when you move the handle, but isn't it supposed to 'snap' in to position? The speed of the tractor doesn't change when you move it. I haven't operated a torque amplifier unit, so I'm not sure how it is supposed to perform. The pto does not work. When you move the lever one way, the shaft won't turn. When you move it the other way, you can spin it by hand. Are the torque amplifier and the pto somehow connected? There is a growling noise when doing this. Reverse doesn't work. It will start to back up, maybe a few feet, then start grinding like it's kicked partially out of gear. So, roughly, how much $, how much work to fix the utility? What would be a fair trade? Would it be swap straight across? Or money added on one side or the other? Thanks, Anthony Nubel

New Hitches For Your Old Tractor - by Chris Pratt. To the newcomer planning to restore the machine, this means you have everything you need for the moment (something to sit in the shop and just look at for awhile while you read the books). To the newcomer that wants to get out and use the machine for field work, you may have already hit a major roadblock. That is the dreaded "proprietary hitch". With the exception of the
