Do the math. Supply & demand. As for greed? Would you personally sell an item for $2.00 when you could get $3.00. Some hypocrites on some other posts here. Current world reserves, cost to drill, pump, transport, refine & transport. Demand in the rest of the world including China & India. Don't forget there are other energy consuming, growing industrial & personal demands on this planet earth besides the US. I don’t know why but many Americans have no idea about the rest of the world except what they see on TV. Most of the known oil & gas fields are past peak production capacity. Or access is against environmental laws or just impractical. Biodiesel & ethanol may become fuel additives but can not ever be a sole energy supply for North America. Crude oil will have to be gradually replaced with coal gasification and/or oil producing algae raised in salt water/brackish water ponds in Southern States..
