The only tractor I don't run liquid in the front is my loader tractor. Back when we raised tobacco I put liquid in and wheel weights on 140 farmalls. It was a must to keep the front end from drifting on the hill sides. Never had any problems with front end wear. Those 140's had no power steering and made it a little harder to turn the steering wheel but it would sure help holding it on a row.
