Make sure that the fastener that holds the rocker arm is good, I almost did an engine overhaul on an old pickup a few years ago becuase the nut on the rocker arm came loose and the cylinder didn't have any compression. The older gentleman told me that it was either a blown head gasket or a burned valve and needed either an overhaul or complete rebuild. I did some checking and found something simular to what you have here. Fixed the problem (and a few others the pickup had) and the customer thought I was the wizard of the GM engine and the 60's thru early 80's GM cars and pickups. Jim
