Having the reservoir above is best as it causes a flooded inlet. However with careful priming it can be below the pump. You don't want to have too long a suction line or block your radiator if you leave the tank on all the time. This could cause the tractor and/or hydraulic tank to overheat. Make sure the tank is absolutely clean so it doesn't damage the pump. You need a filter and preferrably a suction strainer in the tank. Hope this helps. Dave
