I have a 600 that had a similar problem. Two things occured at different times.
The first was a sticking float valve that caused the fuel to fill the air intake hose flooding the tractor. I pulled the hose off and the fuel came pouring out.
Your float valve may stick shut as well.

The second instance was what I call vapor lock. The tank gets hot from engine heat causing the fuel to boil. I drilled a small hole in the cap allowing the tank to vent. This seemed to help.
