We were, for a time, really poor. A beef tongue was cheap. We cleaned it, easily done. Boiled it until tender. Chopped it fine. Mixed with boiled finely cubed potatoes, pickles, maybe chopped boiled eggs. It was really good and low cost. Ate possum occasionally too. We still live somewhat the same way. You would not believe that savings we have accumulated by watching very penny. You don't get rich by spending like crazy.
