Would you believe thats not really reverse polarity. Up till around 1955-1960 all cars, trucks and tractors where + ground. But when they started useing alternators they switch to - ground. An engine will run either way but the chargeing system has to be set up that way and also the coil need to be set up for what ever ground you use. If its still 6 volts my self I would use it + ground since it came that way when new
