As has been mentioned, check the fuse, also the shifter motor on the side of the transfer case becoming gummed up is a known problem. The control module that controls the shifting is located behind the kick panel on the passengers side (mine had to be replaced under warranty). You can shift on the fly from 2wd to 4wd and back, but to go to or from 4wd LO you have to be in neutral with your foot on the brake.
