Hmmm. It's a while since I really sat down and figured out some honest costs on that.... but probably 5 or 6 years ago I did. To cover fixed and variable costs on a 70 hp tractor and a 4 bottom variable width plow, on fuel prices of those days (about half of today), it ran right at 40 bucks an hour for the gear to break even. ADD an operator and some profit on top of that. It's not leaving the yard for less than 70 an hour today if I'm on it, and that's still cheap. That will plow 2-2.5 acres an hour in decent conditions. Discing would mabey be a bit cheaper, but not much. Rod
