Not trying to dissuade you 'cause it sounds like you're on the trail of a new(er) baler. :>)

However, have you adjusted the clearance between the stripper roll and the main chain? Supposed to be 1/64th of an inch to keep that material away.

That's why the clearance is so darned close, to keep if from doing what you're fighting.
