Your question was not clear to me, in that are you talking about replacing both low beams or the hi beam while you replace the low? Anyway most of my night driving is in traffic so lights are left on low beam. When using lights in the daylight we use high beams, this balances the use of hi and low, as filaments are in the same bulb both get changed when one fails.
