PHOTO - headland plough

HI Gang;
Hundreds of years ago when I was young, the normal size of ploughs were 2 & 3 furrows. These didnt cover the full width of the tractor, so many farmers had a "headland plough" which stuck out to the left of the tractor wheel which enabled them to plough that last furrow against the hedge.
Today the Councils use a variation (usually made in their own workshops) to plough the edges of the roads where the grass has grown over the tarmac. The soil & grass can be carted away.
