Many years ago, I used nothing but Champion. For about the last fifteen years I wouldn't use them if they were given to me. I've had nothing but trouble with them including the problem that you had. The exception to that is the D21 and small engine plugs or if you have a high output coil in very good condition. Others may have had better luck.
