A company in Eastern PA makes the planter using John Deere 700x units. 2 row model set up like this with fertilizer, and insecticide boxes runs around $5000. It does a nice job of planting with good depth control and seed spacing. This one uses the finger pickups but you can also get the vacuum seeder units on them. Only problem is that with some of the small sweet corn seed you can get some double seed drop. I used to have a ford 309 planter. the only depth control was the tractors 3 pt hitch. On hillsides one row wuld be sitting on top of the ground and the other 3" deep. I got tired of going along with a hoe and covering seed that wasn't planted so I bought this unit about 8 or more years ago. Phil ps. I bought mine from Market Farm Implement - www.marketfarm.com
