I've done them a few times, common repair on older twin I beam suspension. You can pull it forward, but you will fight it the whole way. And, you're working around a big chunk of steel onder tension. Kinda like a recipie for an ER visit. An easier way is to jack and block the frame up, remove the tire, put a jack under the spindle to relieve the spring tension, and grind the rivet heads off that hold the radius arm brackets to the frame. Use a punch and a big hammer to knock out the rivets. Then just remove the bracket and replace the bushings. Use grade 8 7/16" bolts, washers, and lock nuts to reattach the brackets. Or, drill out the holes and use 1/2" bolts for the extra piece of mind. I've done a few like this, and never had any problems.
