You are correct some names were not sold with the company.
If you watch Golf the AT&T at Pebble Beach used to be the Crosby they did not get the name when he died and his widow wouldn't let them us it along with AT&T or any other company name so its not called the Crosby anymore.
A company in Arizona has obtained the rights to the Packard car name and they have built at least one car so far.
