I know what you mean about being attached. We had 2 angus heifer calves that were abandoned by their mothers four years ago. My wife bottle raised them,then insisted that we keep them and breed them. I'd always heard that it wasn't a good idea,that they wouldn't have much maternal instinct. Well,I kept them. Only one bred,was a pretty good mama,sold the other when mother wasn't home. She doesn't know the difference anymore anyway.
