That is true with some types of waste-vegetable-oil i.e. WVO when used for fuel - but the engine life is not affected, just the life of the injection pump.
The certified bio-fuels e.g. B90, B100, etc. are blended from selected virgin plant oils. I say selected because some have very good lubricosity - like canola or rapeseed oil. When you burn WVO however, you can select and often have no idea of its content.
