I don`t know how close you are to your cousin, but I can share my experience. My best friend and I frequently help each other out. He`s a carpenter, I`m a mechanic. We got into this rut of every time one of us would do something for the other one, we`d buy a gift cert., something for hunting or fishing, etc. Finally, we got to the point to where we said enough. Now we just help each other out, no strings attached. It`s worked out real well, we don`t feel any pressure to run out and get something to repay the other anymore. I should add that if I work on anything of his, he pays for the parts. If he does carpentry work for me, I pay for the supplies. I think you paying all the costs of the trip is expected and fair. If you give him too much in money or a gift, he may feel obligated to do the same if he ever needs any help. You may not be able to repay him by hauling a tractor, but you could offer to help him out with something else. Just my opinion Brokenwrench
