Round bales are easier to bale but you also get less money per ton for them. also you need a real good large tractor to handle them. My friend keeps one tractor baling and one loading that takes up a lot of your free money. With small square bales you sell them right from the field and let the buyers load them themselves. I have two balers an IH 46 and a New Holland Super Hayliner 78 both make nice bales the IH bales are just a little smaller Women like those and they have all the horses. Now where are you going to get all this hay from, I have several people with 5 to 10 acre plots that give me the hay for free just to get their fields cleaned once a year. You will need a good Mower conditioner and a good rake and tractors to run these. Also you need to remember that these things brake down often due to the hard work they do and this will eat up a lot of profit so be sure to get good equipment an don't loan it out. I spend half my time fixing broken parts on the equipment and the other half working on the knotters. in between these I get some hay baled. I'm trying to discourage you because its a great job but its not for the beginner who knows nothing I have a very good friend who helps me out and has taught me the business. Walt

At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
