If the number is not stamped on the side of the links, you can measure the distance between the link pins, center to center, one eighth of an inch incrediments..............1/2" is number 40, because is is 4 times 1/8"
#60 chain is 6 times one eight ( 3/4"), #50 is 5/8
I am not sure how they measure #41 chain , but this sytem works for the larger chain.
