Check that the charging system is not producing more than 7.25 volts if 6 volt, or 14.5 volts if 12 volt and replace that flooded cell battery with a sealed spiral cell AGM battery like the Optima or Exide Oribital spiral cell AGM sealed battery (25% cheaper).
You will no longer have to deal with any corrosion from acid leakage or fumes and the battery will last atleast twice as long as a flooded cell battery. It will also have much less self discharge if the machine is not used for a long period of time. My first Optima is still going strong after 16 years of continuous hard use.
