I've had tinitus for as long as I can remember . I think I got it as a kid in high school after a bad bout of flu . I HAVE to sleep with a fan running or some reasonably loud white noise that's very steady in tone . There's nothing they can do about it . It still drives me nuts sometimes after 30+ years of it . I can't understand people talking in noisy environments sometimes but I don't know if that's the ringing or something else going on . I noticed a couple of years ago that I can't hear cricketts in one of my ears but I don't remember which one right now . No cricketts yet to find out . If it is tinitus it's like any other health problem that can't be seen , people don't understand what you are trying to explain to them unless they've had it them selves . So don't waste your breath trying . Such as when I used to work out of town and had to share a hotel room with someone , trying to explain the fan at night made me get a room for myself at a added cost to me . Then I was known as unsociable . I doubt 37chief has suddenly developed tinitus if he hasn't been sick or had any loud noises hit his ears recently like a gun shot or firecracker . But he best visit his local big money maker ( DR. ) to rule out more serious problems . Take care of the ears !...Randy
