At the risk of sounding trite, if the existing suggestions don't fix the problem it sounds like a restriction of fuel flow somewhere: during the five minutes off you accumulate enough fuel to run the 2 minutes before running out. Start at the needle valve (make sure needle AND seat are shiny clean/smooth, no crack in seat to bind needle when line tightened) and work backwards to tank. If you've got any extra fittings, try rigging temp line direct to carb from another container, to see if that helps. Good luck.
