Dodge/Cummins late model mileage

Can anyone give me an idea of what a later model Dodge 3/4 ton pickup with an automatic gets for MPG? Is the $6K upcharge for a diesel worth it? Also, what is the price of diesel these days relative to gas... I haven't been paying attention. Does it fluctuate like gas does? I see there's a 5.9 and a 6.7 Cummins in the new Dodges. Is the 6.7 a new motor?
