i dont know if you have a coil with a built in resistor. a quick and easy fix would be to take a ride over to your napa autoparts and pick up a ballast resistor for an early 1970's chrysler b body car. its a little porcelain resistor with two terminals on it. take the power wire off the coil, hook it to the resistor, make up a short lead to go from the resistor to the coil. whaa laa!!!!that should take car of the problem. resistor will run you about 6 bucks or so
