My 600 tractor has been running for 16 years on the same set of points.If my points fail completly today I have a spare set ready to go.The failed electronic ignition will have cost the owner 200.00 and the tractor isnt running.I have had an electronic ignition fail in my truck in the driveway.I just happened to have a spare distributor under the bench.Took the module out and got the truck running at zero cost.A friend had one fail on the road and paid 300.00 for the tow, new module and labor.I cant take this kind of risk when getting the hay in .By the time you have bought fuel and twine theres no cash left for 100.00 ignition modules.Haying equipment always breaks down when you have hay down no matter that you have kept it in good repair.A 100.00 not piddled away on something you dont need could be better spent to register the boat and trailer and put some gas in the truck to take in some fishing on a quiet pond.You dont have to spend 20 grand on a boat.My boat and trailer cost 400.00 powered by oars and an electric motor.
