Light Emitting Diode. It's what all the little "lights" are on stuff now, along with the lights on trucks and trailers that look like lots of little bulbs. They make them with the 15mm socket base to replace regular bulbs. Try here: http://www.superbrightleds.com/tail-brake-turn.html I'm pretty sure you can get them with red LED's, not just clear.
