If small piles were made by hand of the slash you want to recover, in several locations toward the reach of a cable a block could be attached to a stout live tree to allow pulling on the cable at 90 degrees so the pull does not need to go out into a field, or other property. If the bundles were in the area of 350# each, a 3/8" cable would surely do well. Be very careful to tie them so that very little sticks forward from the point of choke on the limbs. Further, be very careful to limit your pull (I would put a used car tire at the tractor to buffer the cable, and allow me to see the amount of pull. A cable snapping is a deadly thing. I have seen a man after a tagline came into the cab of an Insley with him, no left hand, and a scarred up face. JimN
