Remember that what you drained out may only have a passing relation to what SHOULD be in there... I guess I wouldn't have any problem with 10w30 or even 30wt in everything. Lotsa motorcycles use engine oil in the tranny. Lotsa early hydralic systems used engine oil and lotsa hydrostatic transmissions use engine oil... I think part of it for me would be what are you doing with it? If you're working it real hard I'd work real hard to find a manual to know what to put in. Otherwise engine oil is a place to start...
