The 160 was made in France by Renault in the late 60's-early 70's. They had a 3 cylinder 40hp Perkins diesel engine. 90% of them had power steering, live hydrualics, spin out rear rims, live pto.
Only about 300-600 were made each year so they are extremely rare and expensive. The last 3 that I've seen at dealers were between $7500-$8200.
Many people say they are similar to a Massey since Massey used the same perkins engine in many tractors.
Engine parts are easy to find. The majority of chassis parts are metric and don't interchange with 170,180, or other AC tractors of that era. The rims, tires, and some of the other components are English SAE specs.
Things like brakes, steering, etc... are very expensive.
Overall this is a great tractor if you are an AC collector and don't mind spending big $$ on a tractor, it will hold it's value. If you are not into collecting rare tractors and just want a cheap farm tractor, I would suggest something a little cheaper and one that you don't have to be Columbo to find parts. Good Luck!

In any case, you have no idea what the make and/or model is. For awhile perhaps it doesn't really matter. Especially if it runs! But pretty soon you'll probably need to tinker with it a bit and maybe buy a part or too. Having a manual is nice. But how does one go about dete ... [Read Article]
