I had one implanted about two years ago. The manual that came with it said some welding is fine, just don't do it for a living, and don't drape the welding cable right over it. I have done some welding since then, not as much as I use to do. When I go in for my yearly checkup at the pacemaker clinic the computer can pickup every time I've done any welding. It shows up as a unexplained anomaly on the read out. So far I haven't noticed any problems with it.
