Socialist Republic of Canada. Just about as crazy as the states of California or Massachusetts
These gun laws are almost as foolish as England, Australia, Bahamas, Jamaca etc.
The Current Government opposition party is currently calling for the elimination of all semi-auto's.
Every few years the bunny huggers, vegetarians, men haters and the peace lovers guarantee votes to help the government disarm their own people. Just about anything military looking was prohibited and we were to turn them in for destruction without being reimbursed in the early 1990s.
Numerous semi-autos, bolt actions, barrel lengths have later been out right banned. The legislation is careful to affect one group or type of collector, competitor, hunter etc at a time. Not enough to get the all the firearm owners/voters upset at once. Death by a thousand cuts is what Ive heard it called.
Simple enough now anyways for the government to collect the firearms now. Firearms were all registered about 10 years ago. Vindictive women often use this info to put the screws to ex-husbands. They can have their exs entire collection confiscated by the cops if they feel threatened. Rare indeed if the collections are returned. If they are items are broken, missing or rusted.
It's done in the name of fitting crime. Seems odd how violent crime and gun crime increases every time the law abiding public is disarmed. Makes it safer for criminals.
The cops and courts go along with it too as they don't like anybody doing their job. Ego and job security for them.
