My alternator is over charging

On my JD 4030 the guage is showing that the alternator is over charging. It has the delco remy alternator,is the regulator in the alternator? We took it off and had it checked at Autozone and they said that it was good,but does that tell if the regulator is working right? I think that they said that it was putting out about 14 volts and they said that was right. Should I replace the regulator? Thanks
