Fuel delivery on Oliver 880

I posted a message earlier about a fuel delivery problem on an Oliver 880.
The engine starts and will run for about ten seconds before stalling.
I will wait about ten seconds and try to start it again and it will again start for about ten seconds and stall. If I keep pulling the choke in and out, I can keep it running for longer than ten seconds. Certainly not good though.
The ignition system is good. If I remove the fuel line at the carb, fuel flows freely for as long as I keep the valve above the sediment bulb open so the carb IS getting fuel.
I've rebuilt the carb, but is the carb on these tractors that touchy or could the cause be a intake gasket but does that explain why I can keep it running when playing with the choke in and out.
Looking for any and all suggestions.
