Well the old saying goes "cheap corn makes for cheap meat". I think we are going to have a period of adjustment in all phases of the business until more is known about planted acreage, weather, ect. As a corn grower it sure is nice to see some $$$ for a change. I know dad sold corn for over 2 dollars a bushel in the late 40's, I've looked it up in the old farm ledgers here. On the other hand I've heard talk of 300 dollar an acre rent too. That's just reckless IMO. BTW, dad spent some of that money on a new Oliver 88 diesel in 1950. No way I could begin to buy a new tractor of that magnitude today!

The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
