A couple of weeks ago I shipped a 16" plow wheel to a shop for repair. It is a spoked wheel. I took it to UPS hoping they would allow me to just attach a tag. They told me that they don't do that, and it had to be in a box. Then the clerk found a box for me, helped me tape it up and labeled it for me. Service was outstanding, but wouldn't allow it to be shipped without a box. You may have a different experience. BTW, I am expecting my repaired wheel back any day. I am restoring a MM plow that was my granddad's. I'll have $1000 in a $200 plow. I think he would call me an idiot, but I will be proud of it an I think he would be too.
