I think after reading all this i would just throw a tube of copperseal in the rad. and run it!
If that stops the leak fine, if not, that stuff tends to mark its pathway pretty clearly so you should be able to tell where the prob is. That and the re-torque may just solve the prob.
Be sure to let us know how this thing turns out, bunch of curious fellars round here....
