Was the HEI originally equipment in this vehicle? On the points/coil setup, the white wire to the coil was a resistive wire so the points wouldn't burn up but it would only supply about 6 volts when the engine was running. You need to have a full 12 volts at power connection of the HEI dist. I used the thottle soleniod wire on a 69 Chevelle that I converted to HEI.
