Same thing happened here, we had the largest Ford dealership in the area, there was one other one 1/2 hour away. We had been pushing construction equipment sales, they wanted the other dealership to sell the yellow ones and us to sell ag. Ours was in the middle of ag country, but the big wheels did not see that ag was going down hill quick, but their yellow line up was still a good seller, sold 29 hoes to the utility company, dad was well connected from also being in the construction industry, so sales in that area made sense, as well as the industrial tractors being good models, backhoes etc. Tractors were excellent then, late 60's - mid 70's, but the ag equipment was not up to the same standards or so it seemed, so JD was still making those sales, big farmers were never going to change from green to blue, tractors maybe sometimes they demo'd them, but the rest was mostly JD or others. JD dealer was 3 miles away. Very similar attitude as you describe from Ford Motor Company Exec's, and it eventually it led to, "get your junk off my property". I remember the lot full of blue ones, and the shop which was huge, and the people, service was important at our place. No start calls in the cold weather, utility company tested out the service before buying the rest. 4 full time mechanics, parts dept. 2 floors, and all the books etc. service was important in that business. Had a flatbed, tilt bed with winch for picking up tractors, remember going on the runs with dad, was a long time ago. I thought it was great too, would have been cool if it survived somehow, boy the market has changed and with the equipment lines today in construction, probably could have adapted, service is still the name of the game, in all business. Not an easy business, but if you like equipment and mechanical things, how could you not like the business, even with the ups and downs.

I have also restored and shown model F's, E 27N's, Field Marshall Series 2, David Brown Cropmasters and the old rey Fergeson T 20. At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
