Pooh Bear got it right, download AVG but don't run it, save it to your disk. Disconnect from the network/Internet. Uninstall Norton, then reboot. After you reboot, install AVG and make sure it's running properly. Then you can reconnect to the Internet and get all the updates. Good luck,
