The fittings I use I believe are commonly called "3/8" automotive fittings". They are roughly half again bigger than the 1/4" fittings.

My painter buddy recommended these for painting with my HVLP gun. Personally my paint skills still suck so I didn"t see any difference. But at high pressure they will move a lot more air.
You could buy one set and see if your impact wrench runs better. I dont have a 3/4" yet so cant tell you.

They are still 1/4" npt so no adaptors are needed to switch over.

At one time I found them at Home Depot. But any local tool shop that has air tools carries them.
