I have to get my 2 cents in here! 6 years ago I bought an 8N Ford that was in exceptional condition except for the paint. At the time I wasn't set up for painting the normal way so I used spray cans from one of the farm supply stores. Last summer I took this same tractor on a tractor drive. I noticed a bunch of guys standing around it checking every thing out. I walked up and said something about the paint job not being the best, some of them commented that they thought it looked pretty good. I said "well it only took 31 spray cans to do it." We all had a good laugh about that. The tractor still looks as good as the day I painted it. It is always parked inside, I am sure if I left it out, it wouldn't look so good. The bottom line is you do what you want to do and don't worry about what other folks think. I know guys that have spent around $5000 bucks for a paint job, I would never do that, but its their business, not mine.
