Hi; B-250 serial numbers 16027 to 23467 built 1958,making your tractor autumn-ish 1958 build date. Starting serial numbers on IH always started at 501. B-250 built 1956 to 1961. First no. 501; last no. 30260. 5 forward & 1 reverse gears. Live hydraulics via engine driven oil pump, NOT live pto single clutch. Diff lock fitted. Disc brakes. 30HP gross. 64 industrial verions constructed 1958 to 1960. Early versions had twin steering arms, later models had single steering arm using the better steering box designed for the B-275 tractor. The B-275 was basically the same tractor with an uprated engine to 35HP gross, and a new gearbox giving 4 F & 1 R, with a hi & lo ratio. Built 1958 to 1968. The B-414 was uprated B-275 with 40HP gross. Built 1961 to 1966. All models were popular in U.K., despite being harder to start with heater plugs required for the indirect injection engines. They had high 100 Pounds to 1HP weight ratio, and were better for field work than the equivalent Fordson, MF & DB models of the time. All are very desirable today amongs collectors especially for ploughing competitions. I have a complete listing for all IH tractors built in Doncaster England, and can help anyone else who requires their tractor dating. Cheers David

I have been restoring old Farm Tractors for the past 6 years, and have found it easier and less expensive to hit all the auctions and purchase whole tractors for parts needed. My wife who works at a local school, and only has weekends and summers off, while on t
