Go with the Mac, no viruses and everything just works. As Paul said, if your kids are into the very latest shoot-em up games, then for that they are not the best as they tend to get written for windows first. Although, now that you can run windows on the new Macs, maybe that's not such an issue any more. Mine's not new enough to do that, so can't tell you first hand. If you do go with Windows, I'd vote for the Dell.
