When we had our 1973 14x60 Fleetwood, I had a lot of roof leak problems, especially when it snowed a lot and it was quite cold. One time a bunch of water started coming in through the roof-mounted swamp cooler. It was dammed up behind ice dams and was more than 6" deep at the cooler! I chopped openings in the ice dams and then put an electric heat cable across the mobile home roof at the low point. I also had some problems with small leaks at the joints between the metal roofing sheets. I found that covering those joints with the fabric tape and then coating the whole roof with Snow Roof cured most of those leaks. But I had to recoat the roof at least every other year or it would leak somewhere. Our old mobile home sure didn't owe us anything--it was mighty cheap living for a lot of years. When we finally built a new house about 10 years ago, I had a terrible time getting rid of it. For a while, I wondered if I would have to pay someone to haul it away. But then I more or less gave it to a young couple with 3 little kids who needed it badly. It was in reasonably good shape, and the last I heard, they were still living in it. But if I ever get another mobile home, I want one with a more steeply sloped roof that I would not have to fool with so much. And 6" thick walls, so it would hold the heat better. But then I doubt that I could get such a home for the $8000 I paid for the 73 either. Have a good one!
