sounds like a little trash in the fuel. i had one do the same thing, also the p s dont put return fuel to the tank cold fuel can gel driveing down the road a little starve on fuel will make it smoke , knock , jump,the older 7.3 put fuel back to the tank once you start down the road the fuel tank will b warm to the touch evean at 0 degree the power stroke will freeze up driveing down the road very important to keep the fuel treated in cold weather
