set the swr's, standing wave ratio, the 29 has an swr meter built in. set the switch to cal, key the mike and adjust the meter to zero. then set the switch to swr. put the cb on channel one, key the mike and read the number. then put the cb on channnel 40,key the mike and get the numbers. if the numbers are higher on channel 1 adjust the antenna mast up. if the numbers are higher on channel 40 adjust it down. the antenna needs a very good ground. I used a magnetic antenna on top of my refrigerator and talked 5 miles.
